I welcome motivated students and researchers interested in developing and applying Causal Artificial Intelligence to tackle challenging problems across biomedical and broader life sciences.
If you are interested in joining the Institute as a HiWi (student assistant), or would like to discuss the supervision of a Bachelor's or Master's thesis related to causal AI, causal discovery and inference, explainable AI, or related topics, please feel free to get in touch.
Together, we explore how causal approaches can enable more reliable, interpretable, and mechanistically grounded AI methods for complex biological and biomedical systems. Possible research directions include causal discovery, causal inference, uncertainty quantification, multimodal biomedical data analysis, causal representation learning, and the integration of domain knowledge into AI models.
Open positions for PhD researchers and postdoctoral researchers will be advertised on this page whenever available. If no position is currently listed, you are still welcome to contact me if you would like to discuss potential opportunities for collaboration.
Bachelor and Master's thesis projects, as well as HiWi positions, are available depending on current research activities and funding opportunities. Students with backgrounds in computer science, mathematics, computational biology, bioinformatics, or related fields are particularly encouraged to get in touch.
